Bushel
As I was driving in my car, a truck went in front of me. I saw on the back of the truck written really big the word "Bushel." Immediately I understood God was speaking. When I came to a stop I grabed my phone, and opened my bible app. I looked up "bushel" so I could find the different scriptures. God led me into the new testament of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. God has called us to be a light of the world. In Mark 4:21 it says, Also he said to them, "Is a lamp brought to be put under a basket (bushel) or under a bed? Is it not to be set on a lampstand?
We were never meant to be hidden under a bushel or a bucket for no one to see. No, we were made to lighten the world with our gifts, talents, and spreading the word of God; the good news. Being a believer and follower of Christ can have a beautiful impact on people. There are too many people in the world who have never felt God's peace, love, or comfort. They have never seen his signs, wonders, and miracles. They have never read the bible to hear God's voice where he speaks directly into their heart. Where his word guides them on the right path of righteouness, and shows them the right way to go. Some people have never experienced or understand the goodness and mercy of God. Some people have met God but have been hurt by religious people, or just people in general, and need help coming back to God. Either way, it's up to us as believers and a responsibilty that we have, to let people experience God THROUGH us. People should be able to see God's light shining through us. They should be able to look into our eyes as believers and see that we are good. In Luke 11:34 it says the lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore when your eye is good, your whole body is also full of light. But when your eye is bad, your whole body is full of darkness.
We have to be careful what we let in our life, so when people see us, our eyes are full of light and never full of darkness. Our light that we shine impacts others around us. In Matthew 5:16 it says, Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Friends, family memebers, co-workers, and even strangers who are around you can be impacted and inspired by you. YOU could be the reason why someone decides to go to Christ. People will see you reading your bible, hear you listening to worship music, and watch you pray. They become curious or want to know why you do it. You never know who's watching and paying attention to you, and your every move as a Christian. That's why it's so important to lead by example and having your light shine. Your light will shine on others and the moment could happen where someone asks "What church do you go to, I want to attend?" You could even be bold and ask someone to church all on your own. Don't have fear or be embarrassed of your faith, but let the Lord lead you in everything you do, and the decisions that you make.
Take a moment to evaluate yourself and the life your living. Ask yourself, "Am I a light of this world?" Ask yourself, "Am I living life as an example for people to see and want to come to know Christ for themself?" Lastly, ask yourself, "Am I using my gifts and talents for the kingdom of God, and spreading the word of the Lord?"
Amen this is our purpose for living to glorify the LORD GOD JESUS CHRIST. To serve HIM and witness the Gospel
